DJ first started at Self Advocacy Sydney in 1999, with all the IT jobs around the office including making sure the computers were up-to-date and also helping out with social client events and supporting staff in all the training and development presentations.
Then from 2001 to 2011, working on and off over this period, he was a client officer helping out with all clients activities. DJ became a Board Member between 2012-2016, stepping down after this period due to health reasons. DJ took time off between 2014 and 2015, for cancer treatment. DJ is a great example of how a cancer survivor moves on in life after picking himself back up after a very traumatic period in his life and moving on to bigger and better things.
DJ started back at SAS in 2017, in his new role as Self Advocacy Officer. DJ’s new responsibilities includes attending to our clients with all their Client Actions Plans and supporting them with currying out all self advocacy individual training and development pathways. DJ also is responsible with all the group training clients outcome as well ensuring our clients have the opportunity to be part of a group by understanding they are not alone in achieving a better quality of life.
